Melanotan-2

Melanotan-2 (MT-2) is a synthetic cyclic lactam analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It was originally developed at the University of Arizona for potential photoprotective applications. Research has examined its effects on melanogenesis (skin pigmentation) through melanocortin receptor activation. The peptide has also been studied for its potential effects on various physiological processes. MT-2 is a cyclic heptapeptide with improved stability compared to native α-MSH.
